Raising Cattle Responsibly Since 2009

At Darvannon Ranch we are committed to the production of premium quality products through the
implementation of a stringent livestock selection program, sustainable agricultural practices and the
empowerment of local communities.

Farm to Table Fresh:
We are committed to the development of premium quality products, over the past decade we have
learned that there are multiple determinants of quality which affect our finished product. Through our
years in agriculture we have endeavored to define these qualities, so that we may optimize them within
our products. Through our research and real world experience we have learned that genetic attributes,
combined with diet and environmental variables are integral realms of optimization.

Our Story

Local Family Farm

We are a small, family owned ranch located in Northern Alberta. Our experience with raising cattle
exclusively off the lush Alberta pastures has instilled in us, as ranchers, the desire to preserve and
protect the rich ecological landscapes found in our back yards. Through environmentally low impact
ranching we are able to endeavor towards that goal, with cattle grazing the pastureland and protecting
the biodiversity of flora fauna, as well as recycling important bionutrients back into the ecosystem.
Rotational grazing of established pastureland serves to protect the soil quality and encourages the
diversity of natural fauna by limiting the spread of noxious or invasive plant species. It is a natural
system of land management, based upon the recycling of nutrients through the local ecosystem and the
protection of pasture fauna which allows nature to dictate the course.

Through the natural perseveration of our land all ecosystems that are found within our property
boundaries enjoy the maintenance of the diversity and the freedom from exposure to harmful or
noxious substances, such as herbicide or artificial forms of fertilizer. This is an important element of our
land management model, as it ensures that there is no cumulative effect of repeated artificial
introduction of biohazardous materials within our soil, our livestock, or our native wildlife populations.
Additionally, we are committed to the limitation of greenhouse gas production. We attempt to
minimize any superfluous production of C02 through a model of cattle ranching that minimizes the
dependence on heavy equipment or machinery and through a locally sourced community centered
approach to substrate sourcing. We have innovative designed feeding methods in the winter months,
which limit the necessity for tractor work and we conscientiously work cattle from horseback, rather
than using quads/trucks/etc. We also are committed to the reduction in redundant vehicle production,
and strive to maintain only a single tractor for all of our operation.
